Gentle and soft impressions hide a stronger, more vigorous face within these ceramics, silently insisting on an everyday dining scene. His signature glazing and colouring, and “shinogi” techniques are proving "Koh Ichino 市野耕” as a young, talented ceramicist making aesthetic ceramics in Ehime Japan.
This is a Japanese traditional "Dobin 土瓶" style tea pot which comes with a rustic brass handle to contrast with the beauty of the characterful ceramic. Perfect to serve Japanese Green tea, Hoiji-cha, Genmai-cha, herbal tea, English tea, etc.
It is very interesting to see how the original red clay turns into a naturally white face when the white clay slip is added, which is called "white makeup" in Japan. These white ceramics show a natural depth of colour, which comes from minerals in the soil combined with the ceramicists skills. And his shinogi techniques and creative patterning adds characterful dimensions to these simple ceramics.
