It is interesting to see how the original red clay turns into a naturally white face when the white clay slip is added, which is called "white makeup" in Japan. These white ceramics show a natural depth of colour, which comes from minerals in the soil combined with the ceramicists skills.
This beautiful flower shaped small bowl is a Japanese side dish bowl but is also perfect as a snack bowl for olives, nuts etc.
